Cute challenging fun. That’s what you get with Putty Pals. Putty Pals is a puzzle-platformer that requires you and another person to work as a team to get through each level.

While you can play alone, it does require a high level of co-ordination on the controls to do so and just isn’t as fun by any means.

When you first jump into the game, you could be forgiven for thinking it is a kids game. But don’t let the cartoonish beauty fool you. Putty Pals is challenging and if you don’t work together with your teammate, you won’t make it through.

You play as a ball of cute squishy putty. Working with your friend, you need to navigate through each level by bouncing, by using your friend as a trampoline to get to those pesky hard-to-reach areas and by linking up with your mate to swing from place to place. You will need to collect colour coded dots that act as keys to unlock doors to be able to progress and there are also colour coded platforms that only the correctly coloured Putty Pal can use.

A nice little addition to the personality of the game are the facial expressions on your Putty Pal. They can go from happy to sad to scared depending on the situation.

The game uses simple mechanics to keep the game fun. There are ample checkpoints in case of failure and the controls are simple but effective. Sometimes Putty Pals can seem a little to simple at times however, there are bonus stages and hidden collectables that are optional, but certainly add to the game as a whole. With 28 levels and 25 unlockable levels, you will be sure to be entertained for hours.

The Nintendo Switch eStore has been flooded with games since launch and it is hard to know what is good and what is, well... not so good. Putty Pals, with its bright graphics, simplistic but challenging levels and overall fun gameplay, this one is certainly worth a purchase to play with friends. You could spend hours or minutes with this game and walk away with a smile.

Putty Pals is a beautiful puzzle-platformer that should not be underestimated.
