What can I say about Auto-Staccato? It's a game that's keeps things interesting, fast paced and bloody as hell. Developers Birch Log states a simple premise "Fight Your Music" and that's exactly what I did!

It's interesting that a music beat game has a campaign, but it's great to ease you into the premise of it all. With the first level giving you a slow and steady beat to go with the gameplay and as the levels progress, you can see how hectic this game can get. Faster beats equal faster enemies, and longer songs means more enemies. This game can be unforgiving at times. The campaign music is created by artist Jay Man. As I am unfamiliar with his work until now, I do have to say I enjoy his work and feel it’s the perfect complement to the campaign.

The game was still in Alpha 0.11 at the time I was playing it, The only problem I really found happened when I accidently chose the wrong song and exited, it caused the game to crash. But like I said, it's in Alpha. The idea of the game is to upload your music, because how can you enjoy a game if you don't enjoy the music?

Free play is great, listening to your music has never been so challenging. I love listening to ACDC back in black, chewing thru enemies on horseback as the hits keep coming. I also tried out a laid-back song like Bloodhound gang “Bad Touch” which let me just roll with the punches... And that's the feeling you can have.

It's like a tense but relaxing moment of beats that flow thru you as the enemies just keep coming. It reminds me of the movie Blade 3 where Jessica Biel’s character is beating the living crap out of baddies as she listens to her music. I guess it's the same feeling. Oh god Ryan Reynolds was awesome in that movie! I'll get back on track.

Auto Staccato is that type of game that is pure silly fun that can be spent with a few choice tunes and zone out. Playing a game where you choose the tunes and "Fight Your Music" is a great premise and I’ll be trying out a few more tunes to mix up the battlefield.
