Call Of Cthulhu is a first person survival role playing horror game, developed by Cyanide and published by Focus Home Interactive.

Set on the small whaling island of Darkwater, you play Detective Edward Pierce as you work your way through this small island trying to uncover the mystery behind the island and the death of the Hawkins family. Each new chapter brings an array of puzzles and clues needed to solve this case, but be careful, each choice you make affects your destiny.

Upon first play of this game I was a bit sceptical as to the nature of it all and if I truly wanted to put in the time to play it, and I am so glad I did. Now, I'm not normally one to play games with a horror theme, not exactly a big fan of jump scares if the sound is directly in my ears....not to mention if its going to cause me to drop my controller on more than one occasion, which this title did.

I'll admit, I got stuck in some parts of this game, going back into rooms I had already visited. It was frustrating me knowing that there was something around the corner that was wanting to give me a heart attack. But I pushed through, put in the hours and effort and made it to the final chapter with a sigh of relief knowing that the scared little kid in me was scared no more. Monsters jumping out of the darkness, weird collections in peoples mansion as well as things jumping out of paintings.

Working my way through caves, tunnels, underground lairs and even mental asylums, each location has a new horror and puzzle to work out and escape. Doing so, brought me that little bit closer to the final piece of the story and knowing what truly happened on that small island. Finding new clues about the Hawkins family left me in awe like your favourite character on a soap opera. Wanting to rush to the next chapter to find out what happens next, reminds me of the last book I read.

After reaching the final chapter I found myself lost and saddened that it was over, but also a sense of relief knowing the final outcome to Detective Edward Pierce and the island of Darkwater. I'll definitly be playing through it again to find out what the different outcomes are if I had chosen to do something differently.
