Sound. Without sound what a boring world we would live in. Easily the most emotive and my favourite of our 5 senses, if you close your eyes the beauty of sound is all around you. Whether it be waves crashing on the shore, bees buzzing in a flower, or even hearing the laughter of children, we close our eyes and savour these moments. Being such an influential facet in our lives, wouldn’t you also want some quality sound when you are relaxing or enjoying the finer moments in your life? With technology integrated so deeply into my personal and work life, did the e25HD Speakers by Edifier stimulate my ears?

On initial impressions, these uniquely UFO shaped speakers are definitely an acquired taste. Not that, that is a bad thing. Being very kitschy, the e25HD’s come in 3 glossy colours, the classic white, black and the brightly eye- catching, red. In my colour of choice sleek, shiny black, with matte accents these will definitely be a noticeable addition to any set up. A design feature I admired straight away was the touch sensitive buttons, goodbye were the ugly knobs or push in buttons, but hello to innovative styling. Adding to their efficiency, and my general laziness is a cute, little, silver remote.61Yg2f8YVoL. SL1212 These speakers come with a lot of cables, and I don’t mean the Marvel kind, but lots of cables means lots of possibilities. Included is a small power supply brick with some lengthy cable, an IEC cable, a proprietary connection cable to link the speakers and a 3.5mm audio cable. The e25HD’s can be used with mobile phones, tablets, PC, notebooks and TVs and we here at MKAU tested them on all of these devices.

Most set ups only required 2 cables or less with AUXing through your tech adding that third. To combat this and one of my favourite features is the Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity. I found they connected flawlessly to my Android phone with little fiddling other than on my own phone. If you wanted to go completely cableless from your gadget and don’t care about a lessened output, you can even use Bluetooth to play out of one lone speaker. I found those touch sensitive buttons even more impressive when I found out you can swipe them to change and pause the music while in Bluetooth mode, a pretty notable feature.

But being a set of speakers, you might ask, who cares about the styling, how do they actually sound? After cranking these 74-watt babies up to the loudest volume, I found it lacked any sort of noticeable distorting, which was surprising since they are such a reasonably priced set. These little eggs definitely have some punch to them. The optical sound quality was great on all devices, with a decent amount of bass coming out the small 3-inch bass drivers and silk dome tweeter. I was most impressed playing a few rounds of Fortnite on Xbox One through them, the clarity and background noises were crisp and clear. They make for that added enjoyability to your gameplay experience.

Overall, these small but powerful speakers, were actually quite impressive. The fact they have so many options for how they are used is very beastly, despite their distinctive but pint-sized appearance. To be absolutely honest, I have actually put these on my list of possible speakers to add to my own set up as something that sounds this good at the moderate price of $250 AU is not something to ignore. While their unique design is one you will love, or you will hate, you cant go past the fact these would definitely add a bit of flare and sound clarity to any set up. Sit back close your eyes and enjoy.
