Corsair is best known for decent quality budget friendly PC gaming products, providing a worthy alternative to the more expensive products out there. Fortunately, we can try the Corsair Void Wireless v2 Headset Gaming Headset, now available worldwide.

The box it comes packaged in has a nice-looking black and yellow design with all the specifications displayed on the back. It includes the headset itself, which is kept nice and secure and wrapped in a fabric bag, a USB cable for charging, a dongle for an easy connection, a warranty booklet, and a safety booklet.

The headset has a nice, sleek design with soft padding in the cups and under the headband. Its shape is designed to fit around the ears, and it does feel comfortable to wear. It can be adjusted to fit different head shapes and sizes. It actually feels like it’s holding onto your head rather than hanging onto it, and its lightweight adds to the comfort. There is a microphone on the left side to communicate with teammates while gaming together or even for phone calls.

Corsair’s latest headset is compatible with PC, Mac, PlayStation 4|5, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices. The audio while playing games sounds incredible. Thanks to its 50mm drivers, and Dolby Atmos® Spatial Audio at no extra cost, the sounds of bullets and explosions going off around you in first-person shooters or the engines revving in racing games, never get old. Even the audio from watching movies or listening to music sounds excellent. ITS audio quality is really impressive for a budget headset.

Unfortunately, the same can’t be said about its microphone. After chatting to some friends on Discord, as well as recording my voice and playing it back, I realised that it’s not the best quality microphone for a headset. However, it’s definitely not the worst either, and my words still came through clearly enough for a budget headset. If you are gaming on a budget, the microphone does a decent enough job to help you communicate while gaming or talking on the phone.

The left cup has all the buttons, volume control and USB-C port for the charging the cable; two buttons provide on/off functions, and the button below switches the wireless connection between Bluetooth and the dongle plugged into the device. They’re positioned nicely and are easy to find just by feeling them with your hand.

On both sides, RGB lights add some style to the headset, but I found they can be a little distracting. They were visible in my peripheral vision, sometimes tricking me into thinking someone was next to me. I looked at other videos to see if others had the same issue, and it varies between individuals, possibly due to the different shapes of our heads. It’s not a major issue, just a minor occasional distraction, and I think I could get used to it after a while.

Like other Corsair products, the iCUE software can be downloaded for free, offering more settings for users wanting to adjust things like bass and treble to their specific liking, getting the best sound quality possible. This is especially helpful for those with hearing difficulties.

Unfortunately, the software can only be used on PC and Mac computers, so game consoles and mobile devices miss out on it. Keep in mind, there is no mobile version on the App Store or Google Play, the iCUE apps you may find on those are not related to Corsair.

Most headsets can still be used while charging simultaneously, but not this one. Having it plugged in will disable it. If it runs out of charge, you won’t be able to use it until it has some, so it’s best to charge it every so often or after each use. On the flip side, the battery can last up to 70 hours via 2.4GHz wireless or up to 130 hours via Bluetooth, so you’ll rarely lose connection to your devices.

Like their other products, the Corsair Void Wireless v2 is a great budget alternative to the more expensive headsets. It costs around $160 AUD to $200 AUD, depending on where you purchase it, and it’s much better than expected for its price.

The microphone isn’t the best quality, but it does a decent enough job to communicate with others online. However, the sound quality is excellent for movies, music, and especially games. For those who are after a comfortable headset with high-quality audio, the Corsair Void Wireless v2 Gaming Headset is well worth the purchase.
