Razer is one of the leading brands in PC gaming hardware, and we are fortunate to have our hands on their latest gaming keyboard, the Razer Joro Portable Wireless Gaming Keyboard, which is now available worldwide.

The Razer Joro is a 65% small-form keyboard measuring 298mm x 112mm x 16.5mm. It’s as thin as most mobile phones and only weighs 374g. Its size is great for those wanting to save space on their desks, and it can easily fit in most bags and suitcases, making it perfect for travelling with.

It comes packaged in a solid black cardboard box inside a nice black and green sleeve with the specifications displayed on the back. Inside the box is, of course, the keyboard itself, which is kept nice and secure, a USB-C to USB-C cable, some Razer stickers, and an instruction booklet.

The keyboard has a durable top plate crafted from 5052 aluminium alloy that provides exceptional durability, preventing bending and flexing, even during the toughest travel conditions. The UV-coated laser-etched keycaps are durable and fade-resistant, designed to withstand intense gaming and everyday use. They have a smooth yet durable finish, ensuring a consistent typing and gaming experience with every press.

Setting up the Razer Joro Portable Wireless Gaming Keyboard is as straightforward as it gets. It can be connected to various devices via a USB-C cable or Bluetooth 5.0.

On the top right corner is a slot to connect the USB-C cable for a wired connection and/or charge the keyboard, and beside it is a switch to change between a wired or wireless connection.

The keyboard can be connected to up to three different devices at once via Bluetooth 5.0 and easily switch between them at the press of a button. These devices include PCs, Macs, Steam Decks, tablets, and mobile phones.

The Razer Chroma RGB lighting throughout the keyboard highlights all the keys in various colours, which looks great on any desk, especially if the room light is off. The Razer Synapse software can be downloaded for free to customise the keyboard to your liking.

Unfortunately, there is no kickstand underneath that can be folded out to position the keyboard at an angle, but it still feels great to use without one.

This keyboard can be used for general use, such as typing documents, but its true intention, first and foremost, is for gaming. The smaller size eliminates the number keypad on the far right and reorganises the other keys on that side, but it has all the important keys needed for almost any game.

Testing this out on a few different game types, such as first and third-person shooters, adventure games, and racers, everything feels smooth and responsive with no issues. It also works fantastically on mobile devices for general use and compatible games. Using the keyboard in wired mode will provide 1000 Hz Ultrapolling for an even better gaming experience.

It has quite a hefty battery life with up to 1800 hours with Power Saving Mode enabled, so your keyboard won’t run out of battery anytime soon. The ultra-low-profile design promotes an ergonomic hand position, reducing strain as it’s designed to work and game all day long. The gaming grade keys provide snappy and precise keystrokes for quick actuation, no matter the task, so users can enjoy a quiet but tactile feel, balancing speed and comfort.

Easy access is also provided for your most frequently used shortcuts, including media, volume, brightness and navigation controls. It has all the keys specific to both PC and Mac, so users of either aren’t left out.

The Razer Synapse 4 allows users to prioritise the latest input between two selected keys without having to release the previous one, so they can enjoy more responsive inputs for near-instant directional changes.

The N-Key Rollover and Anti-Ghosting ensure you never miss a command, even in the most intense gaming moments. Every keypress registers accurately to allow for rapid inputs and complex combinations without strokes being missed or duplicated. It can also hold up to five onboard profiles directly to the keyboard and switch between personalised key mappings, macros and settings on the fly to use anywhere and anytime.

For a smaller keyboard, it has more than enough features for the ideal gaming experience. It currently sells for around $270 AUD, which might be a little high for its size, but honestly, it’s hard not to want a keyboard like this.

It’s perfect for those who travel a lot and need something small and compact to take with them on their travels to fulfil their gaming needs. It’s quick and easy to set up with little hassle. The Razer Joro Portable Wireless Gaming Keyboard is a brilliant piece of hardware that is ready for travel and ready to go.
