Alongside the launch of Razer’s Viper v4 Pro gaming mouse, which we’ll also be reviewing, Razer has released a new range of Gigantus v2 Pro gaming pads. Come along for the ride as I try them out, exploring the design and practicality for both esports and casual gaming alike.
The Gigantus v2 Pro is the latest in the series of Razer gaming pads and is considered the benchmark for its smaller brother, the Gigantus v2, and its cousins, the Strider and Atlas gaming pads. With five different versions to choose from, each offers a unique makeup to suit your play style and game type:
- Max Control – Purple – Surface textures offer ultra-high friction for the slowest and most deliberate swipes
- Control – Aqua Blue – Provides high friction for steadier, more controlled movements.
- Balance – Lime Green – Offers medium friction, giving you a smooth midpoint between precision and speed.
- Speed – Orange – Lowers the resistance with low friction, ideal for fast directional changes
- Max Speed – Red – Unlocks ultra-low friction, giving you the fastest, most effortless glide

The colours are a simple tab on the side that helps to differentiate the surface textures, each with its own specialized thread and weave patterns, creating distinct friction profiles. Under the surface is Razer’s proprietary Glidecore foam, which complements the surface textures while providing a noticeable difference.
The Max Control and Control pads both use a soft foam, featuring larger air pockets for a more cushioned feel, giving you better stopping power and steadier micro-adjustments, whereas the Balance and Speed pads use a medium foam, with moderate air pocket density for smoother tracking. The hardest foam is found in the Max Speed pad, with its minimal air pockets more suited to rapid movements.
After testing conducted by multiple competitive players across different gaming genres, Razer settled on a gaming pad 33% larger than the standard Gigantus V2 range. Measuring at 500 x 480mm, the extra width gives the user more room for sweeping low-sensitivity movements while still offering enough vertical space for aim control, and at just 4mm thick, it doesn’t feel too large or bulky.
The underside is coloured in the signature green that we all know and love, matching the Razor logo that proudly contrasts with the black surface, and textured with a hexagonal pattern providing grip that ensures it won’t move during intense use. A low-profile stitched edge keeps it all together, helping to prevent fraying and assist with comfort.
Even after a 2-hour streaming session, I felt like my wrist was cushioned nicely on the edge, and unlike other gaming pads I’ve used, it didn’t leave any indents from pressure. The design is also made to be rollable and warp-resistant, ensuring it is portable and will roll out flat every time, making it perfect for gaming events or those who travel a lot.
Razer has once again shown why they are at the top when it comes to casual gaming and esports, using what they learned from the Gigantus v2 to step it up a notch for the Razer Gigantus V2 Pro Gaming Pad.
With five variations, all with their different specifications and designs, you will find one that suits your playing style. Whether you’re looking to gain an edge over your competition or you just want to reclaim your desk at home, this is the gaming mouse pad for you.
