Skygard Arena, developed by Gemelli Games and published by Gemelli Games and SpaceJazz, is a fantasy turn-based tactical game where players lead a squad of customisable Champions through challenging story missions or competitive multiplayer battles.

Command your team to capture objectives, gather resources, and unleash powerful spells. It combines deep tactical gameplay with engaging team customisation and rewards those who carefully plan and make smart decisions. Are you one of those people?

Skygard Arena delivers a deep turn-based tactics experience that balances strategy, variety, and accessibility. Each match challenges you to move your Champions thoughtfully, use dashes and spells to gain tactical advantages, and combine abilities for devastating combos. Capturing objectives, collecting orbs, and charging ultimate spells over time.

There is a campaign mode that offers some diverse scenarios, from large-scale battles to smaller skirmishes, but after a little bit of time, you forget what the campaign was even about. Team building is a highlight, letting you pick three Champions. The matches last around 15-20 minutes, resulting in a quicker gameplay style that is both rewarding and engaging.

The sound design in Skygard Arena does an excellent job of complementing its vibrant visuals and turn-based gameplay. Each ability and attack has distinct, satisfying audio cues, making it easy to follow the action as the battlefield becomes increasingly hectic.

The soundtrack felt like some heavily fantasy-driven music with wind instruments, and it never became annoying, thanks to the game’s nice and strong tempo. Overall, the audio helps immerse you in the game without feeling overwhelming and strikes a perfect balance.

Being a turn-based game, the controls in Skygard Arena naturally lean heavily on the clicking, selecting, and choosing what move you want to do whilst targeting the enemy, which makes for very intuitive and straightforward controls. What really elevated the experience for me was the added layer of camera controls.

Using W, A, S, and D to pan around and Q and E to rotate the camera gives you full control over your vantage point, making it easier to line up moves, scout the environment, or simply appreciate the vibrant arenas from different angles. It’s a simple addition, but one that makes the action feel more dynamic and keeps you engaged beyond just the point-and-click mechanics.

Visually, Skygard Arena shines with a bright and vibrant art style that feels immediately inviting, drawing clear inspiration from games like League of Legends, whilst still carving out its own identity. The arenas are packed with colourful details and lively backdrops that constantly catch your attention, which sometimes would do the opposite, causing you to look at something whilst taking damage.

The characters’ designs pop against the environments with bold colours, and you know there is some hectic stuff about to go down. The game is not aiming for that realism, which I’m glad about, because I feel like it would have ruined the style of the game, which is that traditional top-down style, but I liked that you weren’t locked into one camera angle; you could move around and rotate to maybe get a better vantage point, which was a nice addition.

Skygard Arena offers a solid and engaging turn-based tactical experience that balances strategy, team customisation, and accessibility. The game rewards careful planning, smart positioning, and clever use of abilities. The vibrant visuals, dynamic camera controls, and satisfying audio help immerse you in this game.
