If you have ever enjoyed a game where the hand-holding is more like pushing you away and shoving you down some stairs, then ‘Drink Human Beans’ is the game for you. The developers at Last Dissent have created a game that combines Horror and head-scratching puzzles.
Applying for a job where you get to work with human-machine interfaces and manage a Contactless Emotional Distribution System, what could go wrong?
DRINK HUMAN BEANS focuses on being trapped in a simulation by a company called Y.AI Corp., and after each day, you are left to figure out its purpose, and each choice has the possibility of giving you a different ending. It is a very obscure and confusing narrative, even borderline spooky at times.

The game adopts a variety of traits that inspire fear and confusion; a dark setting envelops the game, where the primary source of light is your trusty phone. Its dual purpose is to also help open security doors, communicate with residents for deliveries, and interact with everything throughout the game. Make sure to dig into each part of the remedial task you may try to complete, which may have a deeper purpose in the story.
The gameplay is slowed down a lot by the bulk of doing tasks, which is a shame. Repetition is what best describes what you do objectively.
Again and again, you will pick up packages, make coffee, and roam walkways, doing these repetitive tasks, and I hope you like washing dishes, because on repeat, that’s what this game offers. Even the few interactive puzzles you do eventually, amongst the monotonous walking, do get tiresome too.

Now it’s not all bells and whistles; the lower-end graphics from time to time do leave a somewhat outdated feel at heart. The appearance is very dark with hues of red and tones of grey, which makes your phone’s light contrast so well.
The sound effect settings that I believe at its core is just a bit too much, with extremely annoying sounds that seem to be pointless and repetitive. With a constant flow of elevator music, the sound work in this title really left this player looking for the mute setting.
In the end, DRINK HUMAN BEANS won’t be a game for everyone; its erratic events and surreal imagery are for sure within the realm of games. I personally enjoy playing, but chunks of fun are taken away by its heavy repetition.
