The Alienware 27 240Hz QD-OLED (AW2726DM) Gaming Monitor is built with a clear goal: delivering a fast, smooth gaming experience while maintaining a sharp appearance. Sitting at 27 inches with a 1440p resolution and a 240Hz refresh rate, it lands in a sweet spot for players who want strong performance without stepping up to the demands of 4K.

Its design is clean and modern, and it’s easy to get comfortable, whether you’re settling in for long gaming sessions or general use. The sturdy stand offers height adjustments up to 130mm, tilts between -5 and 21 degrees, swivels in both directions, and pivots up to 90 degrees left and right. Alternatively, you could mount the monitor on a VESA-compliant bracket, making it a great option if you prefer a monitor arm or want to mount it on a wall. With slim bezels, multi-monitor setups look seamless.

Connectivity is straightforward with both HDMI and DisplayPort options available. If you want to run at the full 240Hz refresh rate, use the DisplayPort connection; HDMI still works well enough for most users. Either way, both cables are included with the monitor, so you can get started without any extra purchases.

Performance is where this monitor really shines. With a 240Hz refresh rate and an extremely fast 0.03ms response time, gameplay feels incredibly smooth and responsive. Fast-paced titles benefit the most, with clear motion and no noticeable blur, but even slower games feel better thanks to the overall fluidity. Support for AMD FreeSync Premium and VESA AdaptiveSync also helps to maintain the experience by reducing screen tearing when frame rates fluctuate.

That speed is backed up by the QD-OLED panel, which brings a noticeable jump in image quality. With 99% DCI-P3 coverage and support for over 1 billion colours, everything appears vibrant, and the 1.5-million-to-one contrast ratio is far stronger than what you’d typically see on an LCD display.

Blacks are deep and true, while brighter elements stand out clearly, offering a more realistic gaming experience, with the strong contrast helping the image feel punchy in most environments.

Outside of gaming, the monitor remains versatile. The text is sharp at this size and resolution, and, together with the colour reproduction and strong contrast, the monitor is equally suitable for content creation, watching videos, and general use. There’s also a built-in microphone for quick chats or meetings, though there are no built-in speakers, so you’ll still need a headset or an external audio setup. This can be connected through the on-board headphone jack.

The Alienware 27 240Hz QD-OLED (AW2726DM) Gaming Monitor carries a 3-star rating under the TÜV Rheinland Eye Comfort certification, with features such as reduced blue light and a flicker-free image to help minimise strain during extended sessions. It’s not something you always notice straight away, but it makes a difference during longer gaming or work periods.

Like most OLED panels, there are a few trade-offs to consider. Brightness can feel somewhat limited in very bright rooms, though the anti-reflective treatment helps alleviate this, and there’s always the consideration of long-term static images. Aside from the lower brightness, rated at 200 cd/m2, Dell utilises a graphite film heatsink as part of the panel construction to help dissipate heat, preventing hotspots from developing and reducing the risk of screen burn. It also comes with a 3-year OLED burn-in warranty, giving you extra peace of mind.

The Alienware 27 240Hz QD-OLED (AW2726DM) Gaming Monitor focuses on what matters most: speed, clarity, and strong image quality. It delivers a premium gaming experience that’s both fast and visually striking, while still handling everyday use with ease, making it a well-rounded upgrade for most setups.
