Alienware is one of the leading brands in computer and gaming hardware, and the Alienware 34″ 240Hz QD-OLED Gaming Monitor (or AW3425DW for short) aims to deliver the ideal gaming experience for all PC players with its impressive specifications, sleek design, and ultrawide curved monitor. It is set to release in North America on April 29th and hopefully not long after in Australia, but MKAU Gaming was very fortunate to get an early hands-on of this exciting product.
Featuring a 34-inch ultrawide curved display, the stand is somewhat rounded, almost like a cylinder with semi-sphere-shaped ends, giving it an appearance that suggests it’s balancing on the base. It creates a very interesting look, but it is sturdy and offers a good range of adjustments, including height, tilt, swivel, and pivot, allowing users to find the perfect viewing angle.
The monitor easily clips onto the stand, holds on securely, and has a release button if it needs to be taken apart. An almost square-shaped base with round corners features a locked-in screw underneath, even benefitting from a lever that helps you screw it into the stand without needing a tool. The whole thing is incredibly easy to assemble and holds together securely.
The cardboard box it comes packaged in has a simple and minimalistic design with just the logos, product name, and some specifications listed, but it gets the point across, and it’s what’s inside that counts.
With everything inside, it’s big and heavy, but it keeps all the contents safe and secure, especially since the box we received was squashed during transit to us. Consumers should keep in mind that the box’s size and weight can be difficult to manage, so it might be best to get help or use a trolley to carry it.
The 34-inch ultrawide curved display offers an even more immersive experience than its smaller-sized counterparts, with the larger and wider screen making it ideal for gamers who want to feel more enveloped by their games. You might find yourself so engrossed in your game that you feel like you’re in the world with the characters, but it should be noted that due to the size of this monitor, you’ll want to ensure that you have enough desk space to accommodate it.
The 240Hz QD-OLED screen provides incredibly sharp and detailed visuals, making it perfect for fast-paced games where every millisecond counts. QD-OLED technology provides deeper blacks and more vibrant colours, resulting in a more visually stunning experience than standard IPS panels. At 34 inches, and being an ultra-wide curved display, certain games can take full advantage of the extra screen space, providing a wider view of the in-game environments. For the more productivity-focused, users can have multiple windows open at once without it feeling too cluttered.
The Alienware 34″ 240Hz QD-OLED Gaming Monitor has various connectivity options, including HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, and multiple USB ports, ensuring you can connect multiple devices, such as gaming consoles, PCs, art tablets, and peripherals with ease.
Currently priced at $799.99 USD, which is around $1310.00 AUD, it might sound like a steep investment, but the Australian price may be subject to change. When it officially arrives in Australia, however, even at that price, I believe it’s a worthwhile investment for gamers who want a high-performance monitor and immersive experience. It’s proof that bigger is better, but that also depends on the individual and their preferences, though it’ll be hard not to want this incredible monitor.
The Alienware 34″ 240Hz QD-OLED Gaming Monitor is an excellent gaming monitor with amazing performance. A high refresh rate, low response time, and sleek design make it a great choice for serious gamers, and the larger and wider screen size, along with QD-OLED technology, offer a more immersive and visually stunning experience. The Alienware 34 240Hz QD-OLED Gaming Monitor is a must-have for any die-hard PC gamer who wants to fully immerse themself in their games.
