Nanoleaf is innovation. There is no ifs or buts about it. EVERY TIME they send a new product, it ceases to amaze me the quality of the build and ingenuity that goes into them. But how can Nanoleaf this time round improve on the common lounge room item of a standing lamp? Introducing the ‘Nanofeaf Matter Smart Multicolour Floor Lamp’.
The Smart Multicolour Floor Lamp does come with some assembly. In saying that, it was so quick and easy with all the tools needed included. I did enjoy the novelty of my mini screwdriver. You can not go past the quality of Nanoleaf products, and the same can be said here. Solid aluminium but lightweight, this slim and sleek design stands on a round, minimalistic but sturdy base.
Definitely no fear of it tipping, thank god. Standing approximately 160 cm tall after getting out the old tape measure. When placed in a room, it is actually quite subtle to the point I forgot it was there, it is that non-intrusive. The juxtaposition, though, is that once it is on, it creates such a gorgeous, show-stopping lighting atmosphere that you can’t help but stop and stare at its decent coverage of colour.
Placement-wise, it can seem a bit more of a restrictive lighting choice out of Nanoleaf’s range. Being only able to be used successfully in a corner facing the wall to be the most effective to backlight it up, it still looks indulgently ambient. Being the creative soul I am, though, I did place it under my bed on red for a very eerie glow that actually looked really rad. So I suppose I suggest… go explore and let me know your ideas.
Attached to the standing lamp is a control panel. Here you can turn it on and off and cycle through the preset solid colours and gradient patterns. These are quite abundant in themselves. You can also adjust the brightness on this panel, making it great for the less technologically inclined.
For the techheads amongst us, though, working with the Nanoleaf phone app, the world is your oyster with the ultimate control from your couch with WiFi connectivity. The Nanoleaf software is one of the best on the market and is very state-of-the-art in delivering a quality experience for its users. Here, I downloaded a range a ghoulishly coloured Halloween and even a Call of Duty theme to test on my devices.

They have such a plethora of creative designs to suit any mood or occasion. Feel like a party? Download a scene that pulsates to the music. A calm night at home? A nice static blue. A hardcore gaming session? An RBG rainbow cycling dream. There really are unlimited possibilities with the boasted 16 million colours, especially with Scene Creator mode, where you can develop your own schemes till your heart is content.
The great thing about Nanoleaf is the fact they are all about customisation. You can even program a schedule of when you want it to turn on. A handy feature when you have a set stream time, want a wake-up call, or to turn on due to no daylight saving….
Nanoleaf’s Matter Smart Multicolour Floor Lamp is a perfectly glowy addition to any room. As you would expect from these experts in design and lighting, it adds depth and an atmospheric aura at $149 AUD, a decent middle-range price. Nanoleaf keep paving the way to a brighter future for home technology. Pun intended.
