Nanoleaf is an innovation. There is no ifs or buts about it. It seems like every time they send a new product, it ceases to amaze me the quality of the build and ingenuity that goes into them. I have never really felt the need to decorate the back of my PC monitor, but here we are.
Introducing the ‘Nanoleaf PC Screen Mirror Lightstrip’, a vibrant way to add flair to something as mundane as the back of a monitor.
Coming out of the box on a neat little spool, you are greeted with 2.5 metres of light strip with LEDs spaced approximately 3cm apart. If this seems like too much length or glow they you can easily snip them too without altering the lighting mechanisms.
Be mindful, though, as you can not extend. With a decent amount of power cabling, you can plug these lights straight into anything with a USB-C power point.
The strip of lights itself is very flexible and sturdy, rare for lighting. With strong support between each LED, the unique scalloped design means it can bend around a corner seamlessly.
Much like the floor lamp, the string of lights also has an attached control button to cycle through a preset of colours, patterns and designs.
I actually mounted mine to the back of my TV since my PC is already overloaded with RGB glow. I can confidently say that the strip successfully covered almost exactly half of my 90-inch TV, providing a beautiful, subtle pastel glow.
Still, I can imagine it would be much denser and vibrant on a PC monitor of a decent size. Apparently, it fits a 32-inch monitor, and I can comfortably say I truly believe it.
If plugging into a PC or laptop like I had to, using the Nanoleaf desktop software, you can customise your lighting experience even further. Here you can access Nanoleaf’s uniquely innovative screen mirroring, which just blows me away on each device I stumble upon it.
Mirror screening means it will match the ambience to any game you are watching, or, in my case, even match some of the shows. It really creates a next-level atmosphere as it shifts through colour grades in a game from day to night. The Desktop App is also where you can also download or design your own styles that can even pulsate to music or noise.
Overall, for a light strip, the Nanoleaf PC Screen Mirror Strip does what it’s supposed to. It lights up a place with an ambient glow and vibrancy. What makes this a winner, though, is the quality that Nanoleaf bring to the table as almost a legacy not. It is flexible and well-made, and brings ultimate customisation that only the Nanoleaf app can.
