Paleblue has been in business since 2018 and is focused on designing the best-quality rechargeable batteries to completely replace single-use batteries and prevent them from piling up in landfills. Thanks to the folks at Bluemouth Interactive, we are fortunate to get our hands on their AA USB-C Rechargeable Batteries + Travel Case.
This pack comes with four AA batteries, a USB cable and an instruction manual, all packed in a travel case. The batteries’ designs are like any other AA batteries, except each has a USB-C port on the side near the top for charging with a cable. They’re also wrapped in labels with the Paleblue logo and have a matte finish.
The USB cable has a single USB-A connector on one end and four USB-C connectors on the other end, one for each of the four batteries. The travel case is made of clear plastic with a simple design to hold all the contents, keeping them all safe and secure.
The small size makes it easy to fit in your pocket, purse, backpack, or luggage, taking up very little space. A plug with a USB-A port is not included, which helps keep the cost down, but they’re not easy to come by, and there’s likely to be a few in your home. It seems to work with any plug as long as it has a USB-A port.
A full charge of each battery only takes about 1.5 hours, and they’re ready to use again. While charging, the rim of the batteries will light up, and the colours indicate how much charge they have. The AA batteries are available in packs of 4, 8, or 12, so having more will help ensure you always have batteries ready for use while the others are charging. How long they last depends on the device they’re used in, but they do indeed last a long time on a single charge.
The website states that they will have 1000 recharge cycles before they need to be replaced, but given the number of hours it provides and the fact that it takes up to 1.5 hours to fully charge, it’ll be a long time before you’ll need to buy new ones.
With how these batteries perform, thanks to their 1.5V power source, they are on par with the biggest and established battery brands, such as Energizer and Duracell, but being rechargeable is what sets them apart. The main goal of these rechargeable batteries is to reduce the amount of batteries that end up in the trash and piling up in landfills, and to reduce pollution.
A 4-pack will cost $49.95 AUD, whereas a 4-pack of single-use batteries is cheaper, even the most expensive ones. In the long run, however, the Paleblue batteries are cheaper because they are reusable, reducing the need to buy more single-use batteries. Not only will the environment thank you for this, but your wallet will, too.
The Paleblue batteries are available in common battery types, such as AA, AAA, C, and D, and come with their own charging cables and travel cases. The only drawback with these rechargeable batteries is that they’re not compatible with every device that uses AA batteries.
It’s been reported that devices such as smoke alarms, landline phones, and e-cigarettes may not work due to voltage differences or specific electronic requirements, so it’s better to use single-use batteries for those. Not every device may be compatible, but there is still a wide range of electronic devices that will work just fine, including Xbox controllers, TV remotes, torch lights, and more.
Paleblue batteries have a lot going for them. Single-use batteries do get the job done, but where they end up later on is something that needs to change. It may be a long time before we see a completely clean environment, but rechargeable batteries are a big step in the right direction, and if more people switch to them, that day will come a lot sooner.
The Paleblue batteries are high-quality and on par with the biggest battery brands. 1.5 hours for a full charge will get you many hours of use, and not only is this better for the environment, but it’s also a better value for your money. For those who often use battery-powered devices, the Paleblue batteries are exactly what you need.
