In 2023, Razer released the BlackShark V2 Pro wireless headset, and it became the standard for professional esports competitors thanks to the excellence of its microphone and audio output, providing clear sound and enhancing communication with your teammates. Now in 2025, Razer introduces the BlackShark V3 Pro Wireless Headset, aiming to improve upon an already top-quality headset. We are fortunate to get our hands on it, thanks to Razer.
Inside the box is the Razer BlackShark V3 Pro wireless headset, a Hyperspeed Wireless Gen-2 dongle, a microphone that plugs into the headset, a USB-C cable, a USB-C to AUX cable, an instruction booklet, and some Razer stickers. The new Razer headset boasts a sleek design, similar to their other products, and features numerous adjustment options that allow it to sit on your ears more comfortably than ever.
The controls on the earcups have all the controls you need. The textured dial to adjust the volume, mute button to silence yourself so others can’t hear you speak, USB-C port to plug in the cord and charge it, profile button to switch between different profile settings, ANC button to block out background noise, and another dial to adjust the balance between the voice chat and game audio. The ear plates stick on magnetically and are also replaceable for those wanting different designs to personalise their headset. Razer has already provided a big selection of different ear plates, with more designs coming in the future.
Wearing the BlackShark V3 Pro, it does feel a little heavier than the V2 Pro, which is only noticeable when physically comparing the two, but overall, it feels incredibly comfortable with the fabric and leatherette ear cushions. Sometimes it’s easy to forget you’re wearing this headset at all.
The swivel joint allows it to conform to the shape of your head. You’d be hard-pressed to find a head that won’t fit, as its versatility is one of the best around. Playing long gaming sessions with this headset feels so good, and you can easily lose yourself in the game.
The design isn’t just for comfort; it’s also part of its function. The ANC (active noise cancellation) is one of the best features of the BlackShark V3 Pro and a big reason to buy this headset. It can be activated with the ANC button, but users can also decide to switch it off or switch to ambient mode depending on their preference. With ANC mode on, users will have a lot of the background noise blocked out and can fully immerse themselves in their game.
It, of course, won’t completely block out all the surrounding noise. Still, it will greatly improve the experience by suppressing noises that would be distracting, such as washing machines, air conditioners, kitchen appliances, and other white noise. Ambient mode is like the halfway point between having the ANC on or off, for those who want to focus on their game but still be aware of their surroundings in the room.
For the output audio, the headset has TriForce Bio-Cellulose 50 mm Drivers powering the BlackShark V3 Pro. It’s best used for shooting games where you need to be aware of your surroundings, and this headset enhances the sound effects of gunfire, footsteps, if a grenade is thrown in your vicinity, and other sound effects that would indicate an enemy is nearby.
You’ll also be able to tell which direction the sounds are coming from. It’s no wonder that esports competitors loved the BlackShark V2 Pro, and the BlackShark V3 Pro makes all of that even better. It’s been described that the BlackShark V3 Pro gives you an unfair advantage, and after experiencing this headset, it’s easy to see why, as it gives you a major edge over your opponents.
While the game audio is amazing, it doesn’t add anything new when watching a movie or listening to music. It still sounds great, of course, but with the enhancements in the game audio, it would’ve been nice to get the same treatment with movies and music.
Another great feature is the battery life. You’ll be able to get up to about 70 hours of battery life and not have to worry about losing power while deep into your gaming session. When the battery does get low, simply plug in the USB cable to charge it and keep playing to avoid interruptions.
The BlackShark V3 Pro offers several connection options for your chosen device. It can be connected via Bluetooth, the USB cable, USB-C to AUX cable, or Razer’s Hyperspeed dongle. The Hyperspeed dongle is one of the fastest around, offering only 10ms of latency in what you hear. It’s plugged into a PC or Mac with a USB cable, which does mean it’s another dongle and cable that can get in your way on the desk, but it does what it’s designed to do. Casual gamers may not notice a difference, but serious competitors will take every advantage they can get over their opponents.
The HyperClear Full Band 12 mm microphone has improved significantly. While it won’t compete with the best streaming microphones out there, it’s clearer and eliminates that fuzzy noise you usually hear when speaking into headset microphones. If you wanted to record podcasts or livestreams, the BlackShark V3 Pro is a fantastic alternative to a proper microphone. When the BlackShark V3 Pro was first released back in July, there was some criticism with the microphone not being as good as its predecessor, but this has since been rectified thanks to the updates in the Synapse app.
Just like most of the other Razer products, the Synapse app provides users with a wide variety of options to adjust their headset based on their preferences. The app also includes pre-made profiles for the BlackShark V3 Pro, featuring preferences similar to those of real-life pro esports competitors. This is handy for those who may feel confused and overwhelmed with all the different settings and tools on the screen. It is the quickest way to get the best settings possible, and having several options makes it easier to find something comfortable for you. You really can play like the pros with the BlackShark V3 Pro.
Razer is striving for excellence with the BlackShark V3 Pro, and they achieve it. The V2 Pro was already a top-quality headset, but the V3 Pro has improved on everything. With amazing sound, maximum comfort, sleek design, ANC that blocks out surrounding noise, an improved microphone, and long battery life, the Razer BlackShark V3 Pro Wireless Headset is a must-have for any serious esports competitor who wants to play like a pro.
