At 9:15 am on the 26th of June, I was buckled into a Boeing 737-800, coffee in hand, and heading to Sydney for a one-on-one sneak peek at Samsung’s 2025 lineup. I got an early look at some incredible gear, but tucked away in a private room was a lone monitor that absolutely stole the show.
The Samsung 27″ ‘Odyssey OLED G6 G60SF QHD 500Hz Gaming Monitor’ is an incredibly piece of engineering in both style and performance. A silver finish and slim bezels keep things clean and sharp, while the sturdy stand is easily tilted, swivelled, pivoted and rotated to accommodate your desk space. It also supports wall or bracket mounting, with the mounting area circled by a gorgeous RGB halo casting light on the wall behind it.
As a QHD (2560 x 1440) display with a 110 PPI pixel density, images are razor-sharp and vibrant. The panel is also Pantone Validated and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certified, so colours pop, blacks are perfectly inky, and shadows feel natural.
Whether you’re diving into a colourful map or exploring a dark, moody environment, the detail is incredible, and I swear I was seeing things that I hadn’t noticed before. Then there’s the speed. It runs at an insane 500Hz with a 0.03ms response time.
While I was in Sydney, my first session was with ‘Rainbow Six Siege’, and it was mind-blowing. Every movement felt buttery smooth, and the clarity at high speed made spotting enemies almost too easy.
I then switched over to ‘Assassin’s Creed Shadows’, and the cinematic side of the panel blew me away. The way light blended into shadows, the richness of skin tones, and the fluidity of animations made it look like a high-end cinematic experience unfolding in real time.
Once I received the loan unit for review, I jumped right into ‘Cyberpunk 2077’, and once again, the combination of high refresh rates, vibrant colours, and deep blacks really brought the action to the forefront, and this is why the Samsung 27″ Odyssey OLED G6 G60SF QHD 500Hz Gaming Monitor is so special. It’s just as comfortable delivering hyper-competitive performance as it is making single-player epics look jaw-dropping.
It also completely supports FreeSync Premium Pro, and comes with G-Sync compatibility to prevent screen tear during fast-paced gameplay, while the million-to-one contrast ratio and 99% colour gamut, supporting one billion colours, also make it great for content creation, especially when colour reproduction is paramount.
Samsung OLED Safeguard+ helps to prevent burn-in by using the innovative Dynamic Cooling System – a series of liquid cooling pipes run through the back of the monitor, assisted by AI to whisk excess heat away before it can damage the panel, but should that occur through normal use, Samsung will still cover it under warranty.
Samsung kept the ports practical and gamer-friendly, mounting them on the rear and facing outwards. This means you can’t push the monitor completely flush against a wall, but you do get quick access when you need to swap connections.
With two HDMI 2.1 ports, a DisplayPort 1.4, a two-port USB 3.2 hub, and a headphone jack, most gamers won’t need to adjust cables often.
The Samsung 27″ Odyssey OLED G6 G60SF QHD 500Hz Gaming Monitor is like having a secret weapon on your desk. It’s lightning-fast, drop-dead gorgeous, and versatile enough to handle everything from sweaty competitive sessions to slow-burn cinematic adventures. It’s everything you’d want in a modern gaming monitor.
