For the past 25 years, Snakebyte has been designing third-party gaming hardware and accessories, selling over 30 million products to date. Thanks to the folks at Snakebyte, we had an early hands-on experience with one of their latest products, the Snakebyte Travel Case S2, which is now available in parts of Europe and will soon be coming to Australia.

The Snakebyte Travel Case S2 is designed for the Nintendo Switch 2, allowing players to travel with Nintendo’s latest handheld hybrid console and keep it safe and protected from damage. Snakebyte often describes their products as “gaming gear that we like to use ourselves”, and it’s easy to see why with their stylish designs. The Travel Case S2 comes with a cardboard label wrapped around it, displaying details on the back that can be easily removed.

The outer shell case is coated in rubber and has a stylish design with a black and blue swirly watery pattern. The hard rubber coating makes it sturdy and also makes it water-resistant, a handy feature if you’re out in the rain, as it keeps all the contents nice and dry. However, it should be noted that it is not completely waterproof and shouldn’t be submerged in water. The handle is made of nylon with a rubber grip, providing comfort during carrying, and the zipper keeps all contents secure.

Inside the case is lined with EVA foam to provide some padding for the console, which, along with the hard rubber outer shell, will prevent the Switch 2 from serious damage if dropped accidentally.

There are also two elastic straps to hold the console in place and prevent it from falling out, which does happen when opening the case upside down. Ten small pouches made of elastic are provided to hold up to ten Switch and Switch 2 cartridges, keeping them safe and secure. Players can also pack in a charging cable and other small items thanks to the mesh pocket inside.

The original Nintendo Switch can also fit inside this case, but being slightly smaller than the Switch 2, it does leave some space inside, and the console will move around. It’s still possible to secure the Switch inside with padding, paper, or whatever players prefer to use, and Snakebyte also offers travel cases for the original Switch. This product isn’t currently listed on the Australian Snakebyte website, so a price is not available at this time. However, based on the price listed on the European website, it should be around $35.00 AUD, which is a fantastic price for what it offers.
