Australia’s Most Exciting Gaming Series ‘The Wrap Up’ Is Here

After a successful 2020 pilot, Australia’s latest gaming series ‘The Wrap Up’ has arrived. Brought to you by Red Bull, the first episode of season one launches April 21, and stars AU gaming media veteran Stephanie ‘Hex’ Bendixsen, esports expert and Twitch talent Kori Hallows, and former Channel V presenter Danny Clayton.

‘The Wrap Up’ gives wings to a regular dose of gaming, pop culture, esports & industry news, according to the best in the business. For passionate gaming fans looking to take the grind out of staying up to date (and newcomers who don’t know where to look), this Red Bull original is a far more accessible and entertaining way into the world of gaming.

The first episode boasts something for everyone. From review of new releases such as MotoGP 21 and Cyberpunk, esports breakdowns including the finals of Australia’s new LCO (League of Legends Circuit Oceania), to tackling big topic discussions such as the success of consoles amid supply shortages, and continued questioning of Australia’s game classification. The Wrap Up traverses every corner of the gaming landscape with a new mainstream gusto.

The Wrap Up features a slew of Australian entertainment talent, including former host of the ABC’s cult-classic show, ‘Good Game’, Stephanie Bendixsen. The Red Bull ambassador’s status in the AU gaming universe is matched only by her passion for raising the profile of gaming and esports in mainstream Australia:

“I have adored games since I was a kid – they helped me find myself when I was a teen and were a huge self-esteem booster for me. Naturally, I want to give back in whatever way I can by continuing to raise the profile of gaming here in Australia. Although, I can’t lie, I’m not just doing this to better connect with the community – it’ll be a whole mess of fun being on the show!” says Bendixsen.

Believe it or not, while Australia is one of the highest per capita spenders on video games in the world with total video game and esports revenue surpassing A$3.1billion in 2019, Australia is still well behind in general awareness and acceptance of gaming & esports when compared to the rest of the world. The Wrap Up is the show to change that, says Kori Hallows, a heavy-hitting member of the AU streaming and esports community, Hallow’s has casted Fortnite at the Australian Open and the JBL Quantum cup.

“The gaming industry already dwarfs the film & music industries – combined. And esports globally is seeing unprecedented growth every year. Oddly, we’ve lagged behind the rest of the world in terms of mass awareness and acceptance of professional gaming – but we’re gaining heaps of momentum. I believe Australia is ready to see gaming and esports for what they are – a legitimate form of competitive entertainment. Red Bull’s ‘The Wrap Up’ is a vital step towards achieving this.” says Hallows.

In agreement is former Channel V star and Chief of Banter Danny Clayton, who, along with his trademark larrikin charm and wealth of media experience, brings a newcomer perspective to the mix to support those new to gaming:

“Honestly, I am a casual gamer at best, so The Wrap Up has been a cultural crash course for me. But I am absolutely loving it – and with the way it’s going, gaming and esports will be friggin everywhere in a few years, so I’m excited to be one of the first to break ground at this scale – you heard it here first!” says Clayton.

The Wrap Up Season One is launching April 21. Made up of six monthly episodes, up to 30-mins in length, each is slated for monthly release throughout the remainder of 2021.
