How To Play Teen Patti – All There Is To Know

If you love poker card games, you will quickly get the hang of teen patti. Teen patti is an Indian gambling card game played in a group of two to six players with a regular card deck. This card game is also known as the Indian flush, and the primary objective is to create the highest-ranking combination among all the opponents. At the start of the game, each player is dealt three cards. All the cards are kept face down. Before the three cards are dealt, players must decide on the boot amount and collect the same from each player. The boot amount refers to the minimum stake amount put in the pot, which is kept in the center of the table. With the game’s progression, the pot money grows, and the money is awarded to the winner of the hand. If you want to play teen patti, here’s everything you must know.

Teen patti rules

The game’s rules may appear complicated at the outset, but once you play a few rounds, they become easy.

  • The minimum bet depends on the agreed-upon minimum stake at the game’s commencement.
  • Once the three cards are dealt, players can play as a blind or seen player. Blind is when players decide to play without seeing their cards, and seen is when they decide to see the dealt cards.
  • If you choose to play blind, you can change it to seen during the different rounds of the game. You can do this by choosing to see your cards and continue playing as a seen player.
  • If you play as a blind player, you must bet the minimum stake. If you play as a seen player, you must bet 2X of the minimum stake amount.
  • Players continue to place their bets until everyone has folded except one player or everyone except two players have folded. In the latter scenario, one of the players must call Show, and the cards must be revealed.

Some other rules you must keep in mind when playing teen patti are:

  • A Show can only occur if two players are at the table.
  • Both players must show their cards when a Show occurs, and the winner is the player with the highest card combination. If there’s a tie between the players, the player who called for the Show loses.
  • You can ask the player who bet before you for a Slideshow when it is your turn. The player may reject or accept your ask with no added consequences. If the player accepts the Slideshow, the two players must compare their cards. The lower-ranked combination will have to fold their cards, and the players with high-ranking combinations continue playing the game.

Card combinations in the game of teen patti

  • Trio or trail – This is when the player has three cards of the same value or rank. This is the highest-ranking combination. The best trio is a series of three aces.
  • Straight or sequence – This is when the player has three cards in any suit, but it must be in a sequence. For instance, Jack, Queen, and King in any suit.
  • Straight flush – This is when the player has three cards in a given suit and in a sequence. For instance, 3, 4,5 of Diamonds.
  • Flush or color – This is when a player has all three cards in a single suit. It doesn’t have to be in any given sequence. For example, 2, 4, and 7 in Hearts.
  • High card – This is when no cards are in the same suit or sequence. The value of the highest-ranking card is compared between the players. The player wins with the highest-ranked card in hand.
  • Two of a kind or pair – This is when a player has two cards of the same value and rank and one other card in hand. For instance, 5, 5, 8.

How to play teen patti?

Teen patti is played with a 52-card deck between three to six players. It is similar to rummy and poker card games. The game has no jokers, and it begins by placing a bet. Typically, a fixed amount must be in place, and the players have to bet before the cards are dealt. After the players have placed their bet and the boot amount is collected from everyone on the table, the players are given three cards. The cards are placed face down. The boot amount is the minimum amount of money at stake, and this is kept in the pot. Once the dealers and the player are dealt three cards, their next move is to make a raise or a call. You might be aware of these terms if you have played poker. When a player makes a call, it indicates the player will continue the game. But this means the player will not raise his bet. Making a raise means the players will add cash to the pot. Hence, the player will risk losing or winning more than the first bet. Please note that betting on teen patti isn’t the same as poker. In this game, you must bet in equal amounts. So, if a player makes a bet of two coins with another player placing four, the previous player must place four additional coins instead of just two.

The bottom line

So, this is what you must know about playing teen patti. This will get you started, and the rest you can figure out by playing practice matches and multiplayer tournaments.
