Nintendo Switch Family Grows With Today’s Launch Of Nintendo Switch Lite

The Nintendo Switch family of consoles welcomes a new member today with the launch of Nintendo Switch Lite, which joins the flagship Nintendo Switch console. Players now have the ability to choose the Nintendo Switch console that’s right for them:

  • Nintendo Switch: The flagship Nintendo Switch launched in March 2017 and offers three different play modes: playing in TV mode by placing the console into a Nintendo Switch dock, playing cooperatively or competitively in tabletop mode by sharing Joy-Con controllers, and playing in handheld mode.
  • Nintendo Switch Lite: A lightweight device with integrated controls designed specifically to play Nintendo Switch games in handheld mode, Nintendo Switch Lite is available in three different colours: yellow, grey and turquoise. Nintendo Switch Lite has integrated controls and is smaller than the flagship version of Nintendo Switch. It has no kickstand and, as a dedicated handheld gaming device, does not support video output to a TV.

Nintendo Switch Lite supports all Nintendo Switch software that can be played in handheld mode*. It’s ideal for people who have lots of opportunities to play outside, and for anyone who wants to play online or local wireless multiplayer** with friends or family who already own a flagship Nintendo Switch console via Nintendo Switch Online***.

Also launching today, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening joins the robust line-up of games that can be played on any Nintendo Switch family console. In this reimagining of Link’s original Game Boy release, players are washed ashore on the mysterious island of Koholint, inhabited by strange and colourful inhabitants. To find his way home, Link must explore a reimagined Koholint Island that’s been faithfully rebuilt in a new art style, battle enemies, conquer numerous dungeons and uncover the hidden secrets of the island, to collect magical musical instruments and awaken the slumbering Wind Fish.

Launching alongside the game is a new Link amiibo figure. For more information about the game’s amiibo functionality, please visit The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening website.

Puzzle-loving Nintendo Switch owners can also pick up a new bundle that includes the fast-paced TETRIS® 99 and a 12-month membership to Nintendo Switch Online starting today. The standalone 12-month membership gives players a year to enjoy all the features of Nintendo Switch Online, in addition to TETRIS® 99 and all of its released DLC content.

All TETRIS® 99 owners with a Nintendo Switch Online membership can celebrate the release of the free-to-start Super Kirby Clash for Nintendo Switch, as Grand Prix 7 is on from 5:00pm AEST today until 4:59pm AEST 24th September. TETRIS® 99 players who compete in online battles and collect at least 100 event points can unlock a new Super Kirby Clash in-game theme for TETRIS® 99, plus 99 Gem Apples that can be used in Super Kirby Clash.
