At 09:15 am, on the 26th of June, 2025, I was seated on a Boeing 737-800, eagerly awaiting the flight down to Sydney after Samsung invited MKAU Gaming to attend a one-on-one first look at their 2025 lineup. After introductions and a quick bite to eat with the other attendees, we were whisked away into a private office, where the Samsung team had several exciting new products on display.
In no particular order, we were shown four additions to the range.
The 32” Samsung Smart Monitor M9
As Samsung’s first 4K QD-OLED smart monitor, it boasts a refresh rate of 165Hz with a 0.03ms Response time, which in itself makes for a nice monitor, but that isn’t what makes it smart.
It comes packed with AI-driven enhancements, designed to rebuild and upscale content and fine-tune the displays. Engineered to cover work, rest and play, it comes preinstalled with Microsoft 360, as well as your favourite streaming services, Samsung TV Plus, and the Samsung Gaming Hub.

The 37” Samsung ViewFinity S80D
Boasting 4K resolution, Pantone Validation, and HDR10 with over 1 billion colours, the ViewFinity S80D is the content creator’s dream. My initial thoughts when I saw the 37’ giant was that it was far too big, but with a 16:9 aspect ratio, it has plenty of real estate for splitting your workload across a single screen.
TUV-certified Intelligent Eye Care with reduced screen flicker and blue-light protection, the matte display is well-suited to extended use in bright office environments.
Designed to promote seamless workflows, it comes with both HDMI and DisplayPort inputs, USB-A and USB-B ports, and a KVM switch to quickly and easily switch between devices.
The 32” Samsung Odyssey OLED G8
Built for high-performance gaming, this is Samsung’s Premium OLED monitor. Available in either 27” or 32”, the 4K UHD range delivers ultra-fast 240Hz refresh rates, 0.03ms response times, and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400.
Delivering crisp detail, vibrant colours, deep shadows, and fluid motion, the Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 range has been engineered to immerse you in your content.

The 27” Samsung Odyssey 3D
This one has to be seen to be believed! By utilising dual eye-tracking cameras to map the position of your eyes in real-time, the system adjusts overlapping images pixel-by-pixel to create an incredible gaming experience.
I know, glasses-free 3D has been done before on a hand-held console several years ago, but unlike the fishbowl effect I witnessed on that, where the image seemed to sink back into the console, the Samsung Odyssey 3D was creating a better 3D effect than what I’ve experienced on those 4D-Adventure rides at certain theme-parks.
Published by Nexon, The First Berserker: Khazan was developed alongside the Samsung Odyssey 3D, making it the ideal platform to demonstrate the monitor’s capabilities. As I focused on the character, particles and snow effects would dance over the edge of the screen, and when he reached out to grasp his new polearm, I found myself genuinely leaning back and audibly swearing in response.
With Samsung actively working with major game developers, the list of compatible games is on the rise, so it’s worth checking out the range on the Reality Hub app, but even then, the Odyssey 3D features AI-driven video conversion, so you’ll still be able to enjoy what it has to offer.
Making it even more impressive is that Samsung haven’t sacrificed performance to achieve this incredible feat. Whether you’re delving into the realm of 3D content or not, the monitor boasts up to 4K resolution with a 165Hz refresh rate and a 1ms response time. Couple that with RGB edge-lighting and spatial audio, and you’re in for an amazingly immersive experience.
There was one final monitor to check out, but this one was kept separate from the others. Tucked away in an office that had been refurbished to look like a gamer’s paradise, a lone monitor begged for our attention. Sworn to secrecy, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the day that I could finally talk about it…
The 27” Samsung Odyssey OLED G6
Queue the Angelic music.
Coming with two world-first innovations, the Odyssey OLED G6 is a thing of beauty. Certified for VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500, and coming with Pantone Validation and a higher contrast compared to conventional OLED panels, it benefits from a pixel density of 110 pixels per inch. Each pixel lights up independently to create natural-looking shadows alongside bright and vibrant colours.
The screen is kept cool with Samsung’s innovative Dynamic Cooling System, helping to prevent burn-in and maintain their other innovation: a ridiculously high refresh rate. As a 27” Quad-HD monitor, the 27” Samsung Odyssey OLED G6 pushes an incredible 500Hz refresh rate with a 0.03ms response time.
had the chance to play a bit of Rainbow Six Siege during my half hour with the monitor, and between the incredible colour production, the higher contrast, and the fluidity of the monitor, I swear that I was seeing details that I had never seen before. When every frame counts, and being able to identify a target at a glance can determine if you win or lose, the combination is perfect for competitive gamers.
Stepping away from the bright and vibrant maps of Rainbow Six, I ran through a short session of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and the experience was mesmerising. Skin tones and environments looked photo-realistic, with light perfectly blending into shadow, and animations appearing as though I was watching them happen in real life. It really was a mesmerising experience, proving that the Odyssey OLED G6 is equally capable of delivering cinematic gaming experiences.
Although my time with the monitors was short, the 30 minutes I spent with both the 27” Samsung Odyssey 3D and the 27” Samsung Odyssey OLED G6 were eye-opening. I know that Samsung are constantly driving innovation, but I never expected them to push their products this far. I look forward to spending more time with these monitors when I get the chance, and I can’t wait to see what Samsung come up with next.
