Top Five PC Games To Put In Your Basket This Year

2022 was a great year for gaming, with titles such as God of War Ragnorok and Elden Ring releasing to huge acclaim and popularity. 2023 is set to be another fantastic year for PC gamers, with many incredible titles coming out. Major developers and up and coming studios alike are releasing a slew of titles across many genres that have gamers counting the days.
Today, we’re going to look at the five best games coming to PC in 2023 and why you should be so excited for them, starting with a game from one of the world’s biggest franchises…

1. Hogwarts Legacy

Currently the number one pre-ordered game on Steam, Hogwarts Legacy is set for release on 10th February and is a title that gamers have been eagerly awaiting ever since it was first announced.

Set more than 100 years before the story that was told in the books, Hogwarts Legacy sees you taking control of a witch or wizard and developing their skills by learning new spells, potions and abilities. The visuals of the game look incredible, with the famous Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizardry taking centre stage.

Although some gamers are sceptical whether or not the game will be able to live up to the huge expectations it’s set, the gameplay footage that’s been shown so far has more than answered any questions about its potential.

2. The Day Before

The Day Before is another hugely anticipated game that’s set to release in 2023. A survival shooter that’s set in post-pandemic America, The Day Before caught gamers attention right from the start thanks to its stunning visuals and intriguing setting.

There’s certainly a lot of scepticism around the game, with many gamers believing it’s too good to be true, especially given the fact that Fntastic have never worked on a game of this ambition before. That said, it’s still one of the most wishlisted games on Steam so it’s clear a lot of people are looking forward to it.

It’s set to release on 1st March and will no doubt have a big player base right from the start.

3. Atomic Heart

Atomic Heart is an upcoming FPS role-playing game developed by Mundfish and has many gamers excited thanks to its incredible art style and unique twist on the genre.

The combat is one of the biggest draws of Atomic Heart, with some incredibly unique-looking weapons and abilities. Much like the Bioshock games, you can wield a gun in one hand while using the other to stun or kill enemies through the use of supernatural abilities, such as freezing.

Atomic Heart releases for PC on 21st February and if it’s as good as it looks from the trailers, it’s likely to be one of the best games of 2023.

4. Resident Evil 4

Easily one of the most anticipated games of 2023, Resident Evil 4 is a remake of the hugely popular and beloved original game from 2005.

Much like the Resident Evil 2 remake, RE4 is built on an entirely new engine and has been redesigned from the ground up to provide gamers with a more modern and engaging experience. Although it’s still in third person, the combat looks much more fluid and the visuals have had a huge upgrade. The original Resident Evil 4 is one of the most-loved survival horror games, so it will have a lot to live up to.

Releasing on March 24th, RE4 will no doubt become one of the favourite entries into the franchise that’s now more than 25 years old.

5. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

A direct sequel to 2019’s fantastic Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Jedi: Survivor is a game people have been anticipating for a long time and if the footage that’s been released so far is anything to go by, it won’t disappoint.

Once again, you play as Cal Kestis and the game takes place five years after the original. There hasn’t been a huge amount that’s been revealed about the story so far but the visuals and combat look as great as ever.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor releases for PC on March 17th.

Final thoughts

2023 is shaping up to be an incredible year for PC gamers. Those of you out there putting in some hours on sites like PowerPlay, you will soon have plenty of fresh gaming options available to get stuck into in the coming months. As well as the titles mentioned above, there are also many other great games releasing, including Alan Wake 2, Dead Space, Company of Heroes 3 and Street Fighter 6 to name just a few.

If you’ve been thinking of upgrading your PC in anticipation of these games, then now would be a great time to do it, with many of the biggest titles releasing within the next few months.
