Wrap Up: Pokémon GO Wild Area 2025: Global Event

Pokémon GO’s Wild Area: Global Event arrived as a worldwide celebration of exploration, mighty encounters and brand-new mechanics inspired by the “Wild Area” concept from the mainline Pokémon games.

The event was held over two action-packed days, and it encouraged trainers everywhere to venture out, take snapshots, raid together, and hunt for powerful “mighty” Pokémon roaming the map.

The event was a free-to-access event that drew millions of players into the wild. Those who upgraded with the paid ticket unlocked a new layer of bonuses, boosted spawns, and premium rewards, transforming it into a great event similar to the one we previously covered here.

Those who purchased the premium ticket could also get some extra raid passes, increased shiny odds, special research, and enhanced hatch bonuses, which the die-hard fans would have loved.

We’ve finally been introduced to Impidimp, Morgrem, Grimmsnarl, and most importantly, Gigantamax Grimmsnarl, making its global debut in Pokémon GO. Gigantamax Grimmsnarl appeared in six-star Max Battles across both the event days, letting trainers team up and take on the mischievous Pokémon together.

Exclusive event research enabled trainers to learn more about Gigantamax Grimmsnarl and ultimately earn a one-time encounter, providing fans with an extra incentive to explore the event content.

The event featured a variety of exciting battle content, including Bewear, and its wilderness cape was featured in three-star raids. At the same time, other Pokémon like Wigglytuff, Galarian Rapidash, and Tyraintar appeared across both days in the wild and proved quite the challenge to catch.

Shadow Pokémon made a big splash with the event, as well as Team GO Rocket returned to the Wild Area, bringing Shadow Cressila on Saturday and Shadow Darkrai on Sunday, both with potential shiny forms.

Ticket holders also benefited from increased chances to encounter shiny Pokémon throughout the event, including the debuts of Shiny Unown W, Hatenna and Impidimp, giving collectors and completists something to fight for.

In addition to everything else, ticket holders were also rewarded with a new special background for Pokémon caught in raids and Max Battles, featuring Shadow Cresselia, Shadow Darkrai, Bewear, who is wearing a wilderness cape, and Gigantamax Grimmsnarl. The background commemorated each trainer’s adventures during the event, adding a collectable flair to every encounter.

Pokémon GO Wild Area: Global Event offered a truly packed weekend of exploration, battling and collecting. With the combination of mighty Pokémon, Shiny Pokémon, and special backgrounds and a global first appearance of Impidimp, Morgrem, Grimmsnarl, Unown W, and Gigantamax Grimmsnarl, this event delivered excitement for both free and ticketed trainers alike.
