‘Battlefield 6’ was a massive hit upon release in late 2025, receiving rave reviews from both fans and critics. Six months since its release, the game currently averages around 30,000 to 50,000 players online, which is an impressive number, but after two underwhelming seasons, Battlefield 6 seems to have lost some of its momentum.

Players have complained about maps being too small and having no water areas for some sea action. The team at DICE have listened, and we were lucky to get an early preview of the 2026 Roadmap with not just Season 3, but also Season 4 and Season 5.

Starting with Season 3, new maps will be added with the Railway to Golmud and Cairo Bazaar, and both are reimagined versions from past games. Railway to Golmud is an updated version of the Golmud Railway from Battlefield 4, now set in Tajikistan. The new version of this map has been adjusted for bigger areas in the map, with more places for both intense close-quarters combat and long-range engagement.

Cairo Bazaar is an updated version of the Grand Bazaar from Battlefield 3, now set in Cairo, Egypt, with more spaces for higher-intensity encounters. Both maps will also have upgraded visuals and sound quality, taking full advantage of the power of modern consoles.

Season 3 will also introduce Ranked Play, beginning with Battle Royale Quads in REDSEC. Those who choose to try their luck in Ranked Play have the chance to win exclusive rewards such as chevrons to showcase their skill, EXP boosters, cosmetics and other exclusive items.

This marks the first step in bringing Ranked Play to Battlefield 6, which will arrive sometime between May and July, once the team has evolved the experience so that it delivers on the highest quality level possible for players to prove their superiority on the battlefield.

For Season 4, two maps will be added with Wake Island and Tsuru Reef. Wake Island is another returning map from Battlefield 1942 with the iconic aircraft carrier, meaning players will have access to air vehicles to take the action to the skies.

One of the complaints from players was the lack of sea battles that were seen in past Battlefield games, and the other new map, Tsuru Reef, has exactly that and is said to be the largest map in the game. While in water, the game’s physics will allow players to utilise the waves for strategic advantages by using them as cover and ambushing the enemy. Season 4 is expected to arrive sometime this fall.

Season 5 will have three new maps, which is already exciting to think about. Not much information was given at this time, but players can expect big things to come, and there is already so much to look forward to in Seasons 3 and 4. Season 5 is also expected to arrive sometime this fall after Season 4.

DICE also mentioned a few other upcoming features we can expect, including leaderboards, server browser, spectator mode, proximity chat and updates to current maps, New Sobek City and Blackwell Fields. The Open and Elite competitive series is also set to launch this year, showcasing high-level competitive play that Battlefield has to offer on the global stage.

Battlefield 6 started off strong on release day, but in the following months, it has seen fewer players online, and with everything the hardworking team at DICE have shown us, it looks like that’s all about to change and get players stepping back on the battlefield. With Season 3 arriving in the near future and Seasons 4 and 5 coming this fall, 2026 is shaping up to be an explosive year for Battlefield 6. See you on the Battlefield!”
