Dobro Goranku is an upcoming card game aiming to make its mark in a unique and dedicated genre. Developers Moonlab, known for their Blockchain Game of the Year win in 2022 with Devikins, have teamed up with Klever, one of Brazil’s most innovative blockchain companies, to bring a fresh experience to card game fans.

Coming to Early Access on Steam and available now on mobile devices, Dobro Goranku is set to bring a new style of card game to the genre. In its current state, it is not compatible with Steam Deck, but we can see this being a feature in the future, as we know, card games are great on the move.

You are a Runist with the mystical power of Dobro. You are introduced to Tila, who will show you the ropes. Other than this information, at the moment, there is no further story or depth to the Dobro Goranku world. You begin with the Tutorial, aided by Tila, and have seven parts to learn. These are:

• Elements
• Stats
• Equipment
• Round Points
• Evade
• Loss Bonus
• Discard

The games are five rounds; each round is 30 seconds for you to place up to three cards. One character and two equipment, but you can expand on these depending on another part of the game, Elements. The element that is represented in the round is your base of playing a card of this element for a better chance of taking the win, but if you have none matching, you can still take a round with the right power of cards. If you lose a round, you get a 25% Loss bonus that can stack, so going forward, you can turn the tables quite easily, giving the game some unpredictability.

There are four game modes: Ranked, Casual, Tutorial, and Vs. AI (coming soon). Ranked matches pit you against others for score and progression. Casual mode allows for more relaxed play without impacting ranking. The Tutorial guides you through the basics of the game. Vs. AI, not yet available, will let you play against computer opponents. Currently, only Ranked and Tutorial have active matches; Casual mode has very few available games due to a low player base in early access.

You can gain Void Coins through Daily and Weekly tasks; these are used to buy Silver and Golden tickets, which are used to open card packs to expand your deck. You can hold up to twenty-one cards in your deck; you cannot duplicate equipment or characters. So, characters have alternatives, and as I said, you cannot have more than one of that character at a time. Cards have the following statistics:

• HP
• Attack
• Defence
• Intellect
• Stamina

Considering that most card games, you use these stats to predict your games when placing your cards. After each round, your cards are replaced.

The graphics on the cards are sharp and colorful, but they all look AI-generated; I noticed a lack of graphic quality in loading screens and card summons. Not sure if this is to make it compatible with mobile or not.

There is not much sound to speak of in the character voicing for Tila, but after this, the game is quite silent.

Overall, I cannot recommend it right now; it feels empty and incomplete. It needs heart and soul. Card enthusiasts may want to give it a try. It needs more time to blossom, so as it is in Early Access, this can only mean it will grow based on community feedback.
