EA recently invited MKAU Gaming to an exclusive online hands-on preview event for the upcoming FC 26, and it’s clear they’re not messing around this year. From what we’ve seen and played, EA is pulling out all the stops to deliver not just the most authentic football experience, but one of the most immersive and content-packed sports games on the market. With major upgrades across gameplay, visuals, and community-driven features, FC 26 is shaping up to be a true game-changer.

They’re pushing hard on the phrase “The Club Is Truly Yours”. EA has been actively listening to the community and using their feedback to shape the development of this year’s title, making it a more community-driven experience.

Through the FC Feedback portal, players can now share their thoughts, suggestions, and concerns in one central space, with specific details and feature requests being sent directly to the development team. EA is making sure players’ voices are heard, as we are the ones playing the game.

They’ve also implemented the FC Creators Council, which comprises casual gamers, competitive gamers, and real-life athletes, helping to develop this title. With FC Feedback open to everyone, every player has the opportunity to help shape the future of the game.

FC 26 marks a special year for EA Sports, with a complete gameplay overhaul focused on refining the fundamentals. Each change is powered by direct community feedback, aiming to address long-standing concerns and deliver a more fluid, responsive, and authentic football experience.

This isn’t just a patch; it’s a deep dive into what the community expects. From what I’ve been able to play so far, I’m impressed with how different the game feels. One of the first things they mentioned that was updated is Dynamic Dribbling.

Players kept reporting that the dribbling felt sluggish and inconsistent, so EA introduced more frequent dribble touches, increased responsiveness, and faster animation playback, which allows you to move more freely and naturally while changing speeds and directions, regardless of whether you’re jogging or sprinting. The new system stands out compared to last year’s model.

Goalkeepers have also received some much-needed major attention. In past titles, inconsistencies in reactions and positioning were a constant frustration. The developers in FC 26 have introduced a new system, which means the goalkeepers are now trained using machine learning for smarter positioning, benefiting from fewer defections and featuring new animations from volumetric motion capture, which has created a realistic look to how the goalkeepers move.

Whilst we are talking about defending, I should also mention there has been an overhaul to the tacking and interception mechanic, which means there is more fine-tuning in those crowded, more sweaty situations, and with the new animations, it delivers a more believable and clearer looking interaction, which makes those key defensive moments feel more satisfying.

On the other hand, one of the biggest complaints was that people felt the ball was too easily lost when in attack, which has now been addressed with the ball’s animations feeling more fluid and behaviors enhanced. New mechanics, such as contested box-outs, shield entries, and a brand-new enforcer playstyle, are all put into a neat little package, which we will get to see more of soon.

FC 26 has introduced two distinct gameplay tunes to cater to different player styles, one for competitive online play and another for an authentic offline experience. The competitive gameplay mode is crafted specifically for FUT and Clubs, emphasizing responsiveness, player skill, and consistent outcomes by reducing tacklebacks and goalkeeper deflections against opponents. Manual defending is more impactful, and fatigue has been reworked to play a much more strategic role.

On the other hand, you have the Authentic gamemode, which is designed around career mode and offline play. This version focuses more on realism, immersion, and strategic depth, introducing five new simulation sliders that we will see more of closer to release, as well as more granular control. This also includes custom mechanics to simulate a true-to-life football experience. Defenders are now more position disciplined.

Career

FC 26 introduces a host of new features to Manager and Player Career Modes, designed to bring a deeper level of authenticity, strategy, and immersion ot the experience. At the heart of these upgrades is Manager Live, a feature that continues to evolve with each season to reflect the ever-changing world of football. Variety is at the core of this mode, offering both short-term experimentation and long-term specialisation. Whether you’re building a dynasty or trying out a unique tactical setup, Manager Live gives you the flexibility to play your way. One of the biggest additions is the new rewards system. Offering meaningful incentives and progression ties to your choices and success.

The new Manager Market brings a bit of drama to the unfolding of careers. Job security and performance objectives now carry real weight. Managers can be fired, choose to retire, or leave for new opportunities just like in the real world. The addition of the caretaker role and tactical vision profile helps define your managerial identity. I’m a big fan of this addition because it adds weight to being a manager, and if you mess up badly enough, you’ll hear about it.

Adding further authenticity to the career is “Unexpected Events”, which can range from players suffering from food poisoning to more serious issues, such as long-term or permanent injuries. These events bring that real-world immersion we have all been seeking in sports games. The last thing to note is that several additional features have been implemented into the career mode, including Icons & Heroes, deeper stats, and more player archetypes, as well as an enhanced level of history with origin stories, which make this the most realistic simulation football game to date.

FUT

Football Ultimate Team (FUT) in FC 26 continues to evolve, driven now by community feedback. This year’s FUT has introduced exciting new ways to compete through tournaments and live events, bringing the community together like never before. It’s been designed to enhance both short-term engagement and long-term team-building strategies.

I’m genuinely keen to get my hands on the full release of FC 26. The small snippet we got to play during the event has me even more excited to experience the finished, polished product. From the major gameplay overhauls to the revamped Career and FUT modes, it’s clear EA is listening to the community and delivering a sports experience we all crave.
