Prepare to dust off the fedora and crack that whip, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is making its long-awaited debut on PlayStation 5 this April 17th, 2025. Step into the boots of the world’s most iconic archaeologist and experience the pulse-pounding adventure that spans continents and uncover ancient secrets, and see why it’s been a smash hit.
If you would like to check out our full review of the game when it launched on the Xbox Series S|X, you can read more about it HERE. We covered everything in-depth, from gameplay to performance. However, if you are considering picking it up on the PlayStation 5, feel free to keep reading my thoughts and see how it holds up on Sony’s powerhouse console.
I loved how seamlessly the game ran on the PlayStation 5. Having also played it on the Xbox Series X when it launched, I can confidently say the experience was identical. Smooth, polished and incredibly enjoyable. It’s one of those games you can sit down with for hours and just lose yourself in. There is always something to do, whether you are diving into the main story or getting sidetracked by a bunch of side questions the game keeps you constantly immersed.
I genuinely loved the controls overall; they were done super well and felt intuitive throughout the experience. The on-screen prompts were a great touch, especially when it came to using your whip as a rope or yanking down on something to solve those puzzles. Everything flowed naturally, and there was no need to overcomplicate things, which the developers did super well.

That being said, I did find myself occasionally screaming with the D-pad during combat. I would be trying to grab a bandage and would pull out an apple like some sort of magician. This could be an operator issue, but it happened enough times to make those intense combat scenes a little more stressful.
I did enjoy the haptic feedback and adaptive trigger support on the PlayStation 5 version of Indiana Jones compared to the Xbox version, as it added an extra layer of immersion, which was a noticeable difference when you were cracking your whip or punching an enemy fair in the face. The added detail with something as simple as the lightbar on the controller reacting to in-game events like when you were about to die it would start pulsing red or flashing yellow whilst enemies were searching for you.
Growing up watching Indiana Jones, I always loved those iconic, over-the-top punching sounds and those unmistakable whip cracks, which were always a little louder than everything else, making the moment feel larger than life. The same energy has been perfectly captured in this title, delivering a wave of pure nostalgia through the sound design. The voice acting is straight out of a film, with Troy Baker delivering a performance so close to Harrison Ford that if you didn’t know it was Troy, you would swear it was Harrison himself.
The attention to detail in the audio was top-tier and delivered a true Indiana Jones experience. If you are like me and like playing a little pre-bed gaming session on the PlayStation Portal, the game sounded just as amazing on there.
The graphics are absolutely stunning, capturing the spirit of adventure with incredible detail and an amazing cinematic flair. Every single environment feels rich and immersive and feels like you were stepping right into one of the classic films.

The PS5 really captures the beauty in the game with the lighting, shadows and how realistic it looks. The character’s animations are fluid and expressive, making every chase, puzzle and fight sequence feel dynamic. Whilst navigating through dark tombs or exploring through the desert, it’s a visual experience.
The developers made sure to utilise the power of the PlayStation 5 with frictionless loading and SSD optimisation, ensuring fast streaming so you can get into the action quicker. Taking full advantage of the PlayStation 5’s advanced CPU and GPU, it delivers a stable 60 FPS experience. It also utilises PlayStation 5’s ray-tracing capabilities across both the base model and pro model, which delivers dynamic, lifelike lighting through a global illumination system.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle delivers a thrilling, action-packed experience that honors the legacy of the legendary archaeologist while introducing fresh twists for modern audiences. The game looks stunning and has immersive gameplay without fault on the PlayStation 5.
Whether you’re a long-time fan or a newcomer Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is a fitting tribute to one of cinema’s most iconic heroes proving that the spirit of adventure never dies.
