Lawn Mowing Simulator (Nintendo Switch) – Review

You could say I have become a bit of a Lawn Mowing expert, well, in the simulator sense at least. While I don’t particularly like to be out in the sunlight, like most gamers, I do have a bit of a green thumb and enjoy the company of plants and nature. Thus, it comes down to me, once again, to imbue you with the knowledge and everything else that comes with the ‘Lawn Mowing Simulator’ developed by the team at Skyhook Games.

As previously stated I have become a bit of a connoisseur of these titles, so you can read my previous reviews here and here as this Nintendo Switch review will cover any changes or differences:

Firstly, there are no glaring changes to the overall game. Career is the same, you still use a plethora of mowers and hedge trimmers, and develop your career and business. It also still includes modes such as Free Mow, Quick Mow, and Challenge.

The most obvious differences, not necessarily changes, are the controls and the graphics. Firstly, I felt Lawn Mower Simulator was efficient enough in handheld mode but I preferred to use it docked on the TV with a pro controller instead of the joy-cons.

The joys cons just feel so clunky whenever steering is involved and the controller fixes that with a more stable experience when driving. The controls are mostly transferred over nicely through to the Nintendo Switch.

Graphically, it could be better. In handheld, it isn’t as bad due to the smaller screen, but the 720p power of the Nintendo Switch just struggles with anything textural. On the TV, docked on the big 4K screen it is pretty harsh.

The grass of the lawns is so badly rendered they began to hurt my eyes after a while because each mow can range from taking 20 minutes up to 1 hour to complete and staring at the grass blades continuously made them bug out.

Overall, Lawn Mowing Simulator is a decent simulation of maintaining a lawn as a business but it is really hard to recommend on Nintendo Switch. I would recommend the PlayStation 5 for its higher fidelity and smoother controls if you want to dive in with your green thumbs first.
