Magic: The Gathering – Avatar: The Last Airbender is the crossover fans have been waiting for, where elemental bending meets strategic spell-slinging in a fusion that feels both nostalgic and entirely new. Whether you grew up mastering the stack or mastering the elements, this set brings Avatar: The Last Airbender to life through beautifully crafted cards, iconic characters and mechanics that capture the heart of the series.

From Aang’s airbending agility to Zuko’s relentless fire, every card feels like a moment pulled from the show and reimagined for MTG’s ever-evolving battlefield. But does this long-anticipated crossover live up to the legacy of both worlds?

Wizards of the Coast sent us over quite a collection to preview and check out. We received the full Commander’s Bundle, which retails for $198 along with the standard bundle which is valued at $130, Wizards also sent over a solid collection of boosters to crack open: four Jumpstar Boosters which are $12 each, three Play Boosters which are also $12 each, and three premium Collector Boosters which are valued at $72 each with this spread, I was able to dive deep into what Magic: The Gathering – The Last Airbender has to offer, from it’s themed decks to high-end collector treatments.

The $130 Avatar: The Last Airbender bundle is easily one of the most well-rounded products in the set, making it a great pickup for both seasoned Magic players and new fans stepping into the world of bending and magic. It’s packed with a little bit of everything to kick-start or expand the collection, anchored by nine Play Boosters, each containing 14 cards pulled from across the main set and the supplementary list. Inside these boosters, you can expect 1-4 rares or mythics, a mix of commons and uncommons, a guaranteed traditional foil, and even a slim chance of pulling a foil borderless mythic.

Beyond the boosters, the bundle delivers plenty of themed extras, including a bundle-exclusive foil card, five foil Appa lands, five non-foil full-art Appa lands, and a full spread of basic lands in both foil and non-foil.

To top it all off, you get an oversized set-themed Spindown life counter, a sturdy card box and two reference cards, making this bundle not only a great value but also a fun, collectible way to experience Magic: The Gathering – The Last Airbender right out of the box. If you’re new to Avatar: The Last Airbender and were asking yourself What Appa is He is Aang’s loyal companion and also a flying bison in the series.

The $198 Commander Bundle is the premium all-in-one package for anyone looking to dive deep into Magic: The Gathering – Avatar: The Last Airbender, combining the thrill of booster openings with commander-ready staples and a pile of slick thematic extras. Inside the bundle are nine Play Boosters, offering the usual mix of 14 cards each pulled from across the main set and supplementary list, with anywhere from 1-4 rares or mythics, a guaranteed traditional foil, and, like the other bundle, an ultra-rare chance of pulling a foil borderless mythic. But the bundle does not stop there.

Wizards of the Coast has upped the ante with a Collector Booster, loaded with 12-14 foils, five rares or mythics, a Headliner card in less than 1% of the packs, and all the collectible treatments fans love cracking open. If you get past the boosters in the bundle it really rounds out it’s value with a massive spread of land cards with 15 regular and 15 foil basics, plus five promo cards featuring some beautiful Avatar themed artwork, Commander players get even more love, with the inclusion of staple cards like Sol Ring, Swiftfoot Boots, and Arcane Signet, alongside two classic spell cards from a curated list of ten.

If you put all this together, it creates the perfect bundle for a genuine jumpstart to any bending-themed deck. The finishing touches are the themed Clickwheel and setup box, which make the Commander Bundle feel complete, collectible and clearly built for fans who want the ultimate experience.

The Collector Boosters are the premium chase product of the Avatar: The Last Airbender set, designed for players who want the flashiest, rarest and most collectible cards right out of the pack. Each booster contains 15 cards, pulling from a wider pool of specialty treatments and high-rarity hits.

Inside, you’ll find 12-14 traditional foils, plus five cards of rarity rare or higher, making every pack feel like a mini treasure trove. Collector Boosters also include a dedicated land card, a loaded mix of common and uncommons, and the incredibly rare chance of opening a Headliner card, which is in less than 1% of the packs. These packs are all about spectacle, shine and high-impact cardboard, perfect for collectors and anyone chasing that collection fix.

The Jumpstart Boosters are all about quick, fun gameplay, offering an open-and-play experience themed around the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender. Each booster comes with 20 cards, including a mix of lands and spells built around a specific bending identity or character focus. Players can simply crack two Jumpstart boosters, shuffle them together, and they’re completely ready to play the game.

These packs are perfect for newcomers, casual fans, or anyone who wants a fast and flavourful way to experience the set’s mechanics without the complexity of drafting or constructing full decks. Whether it’s Earth Kingdom resilience or Fire Nation aggression, Jumpstart Boosters deliver gameplay right out of the wrapper.

The Play Boosters are the mainstay pack type for Avatar: The Last Airbender, striking the perfect balance between draftability and exciting pulls. Each booster contains 14 cards drawn from the main set and the supplementary list. Inside the booster, you can expect 1-4 rares or mythics, 3-5 uncommons, 6-9 commons, and one land card, with a 20% chance you receive a traditional foil.

Every pack also includes one guaranteed traditional foil card, plus the slim chance of a foil-borderless mythic rare, keeping things spicy for collectors. These boosters are ideal for limited play, casual gaming or stocking up on set staples while enjoying the set.

I’m a massive fan of the art and would say it’s one of the biggest triumphs in the set. It perfectly captures the heart, humour, and intensity of the series while translating it into Magic’s visual identity.

Every card feels like a moment pulled straight from the show, whether it’s Aang’s fluid airbending, Zuko’s explosive firebending or the serene landscapes of the Four Nations. The artist has struck a balance between faithful character likeness and MTG’s more textures, painterly style, giving the set the depth that feels both nostalgic and elevated.

Some new bending style abilities have been added with each element, Air, Water, Fire and Earth getting their own mechanical identity, reflected through ability worded effects. These aren’t full MTG mechanics, but they behave like thematic sub-mechanics unique to the set. Airbending “Flow” style affects more focus on movement, evasion, and tempo, giving the Airbending decks that fast and slippery gameplay, where Waterbending is more based on transformation and healing, which leans into the flexibility and reactive spells, which often create tokens, tapping and untapping targets or copying spells.

Several cards have abilities that trigger when you gain life, mirroring the healing arts. Earthbending is based around Fortification and Presence, which focuses on toughness, blocking, and creating walls and abilities that trigger when permanents become tapped or when lands enter. Each deck hits hard but is also built to endure. Last but not least is Firebending, which is Aggression and Burst Damage, focusing on damage, temporary power boosts, and effects that trigger when you cast non-creature spells. These bending identify markers behave like the four “schools” of the set, giving it a very defined mechanical flavour this time around.

Magic: The Gathering – Avatar: The Last Airbender is more than just another Universes Beyond release; it’s a genuine celebration of one of the most beloved animated worlds created. From the stunning artwork to the bending-inspired mechanics and a wide range of products, this set succeeds in capturing the spirit and storytelling in Avatar: The Last Airbender while still feeling unmistakably like Magic: The Gathering. Whether you’re cracking open some boosters in search of a showpiece foil, jumping into some fast-paced themed games with the Jumpstar Booster, or diving deep with the Commander Bundle, there’s a clear sense of passion and intent behind this crossover set.
