Ladies and gentlemen, I am shocked and appalled to have to tell you that I have been misled! As the scholar and gentleman that I am, I picked up this copy of Mosaique Neko Waifus 4 with nothing but the purest intentions.

The word Mosaique, of course, meaning patchwork, I merely thought this an intellectual tile game, indeed the esteemed digital download service, Steam, even presents it as a “puzzler”. I was shooketh to my core to find that it was also a game that provided a form of imagery I was NOT prepared for…but by all the gods did I love it!

For those that don’t know, Mosaique Neko Waifus 4 is brought to us all by the incredibly artistic and talented developers at Lil Hentai Games, and what I wouldn’t give for a chance to work in their concept room. These legends brought us other such bangers like “Mosaique Neko Waifus 3”, “Mosaique Neko Waifus 2”, and… well I think you get the drift. As the old saying goes, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, and the concept of this game may be simple, but it’s fun! Not to mention it’s also very easy on the eye.

MOSAIQUE simply stated means ’patchwork’ art. This suits this game perfectly as you are flipping tiles in a patchwork format to piece together a work of art; namely a group of 4 beautiful “Neko Waifus”! You rotate tiles, flip tiles, and rotate entire sections of the board until you complete each image before moving onto either one of the other girls or the next image in this particular Waifus repertoire.

More than just your basic puzzler, Mosaique Neko Waifus 4 also gives you skill points for completing puzzles that allow you to add an absolute array of abilities to make solving the puzzles a little easier. Whilst these may seem irrelevant at first, I assure you they come in handy later on in the game. If you’re an achievement hunter there are also 100 achievements to be unlocked and, whilst this isn’t usually my forte, I somehow managed to unlock them all! Come for the ladies, stay for the achievements, and have a laugh at the dialogue and items that are thrown around.

I don’t know what I can say about the graphics, except that a small part of me loved them. I mean… A big part of me loved them. Ha. Ha ha. But seriously, the game is bright and colourful, exactly what you would expect from an anime-style puzzler, as well as being sparkly and loud when you complete puzzles. Even though the game seems basic, it manages to make you feel accomplished for completing even the smallest tasks.

Despite my previous declaration, I was surprised when I started playing and found that the images were not overly inappropriate. I would have put this game down as PG at best, and appropriate for almost all age groups. That being said, I was also very quick to find that magical 18+ DLC to make the game more my speed, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy it without. Spitting that option out was a brilliant move by the developers to increase the player base able to play the game.

If I had to find a qualm with this puzzler, it would be the fact that there are potentially too many “skills” available. Adding a skill tree to help solve puzzles was a great idea, but it’s such a large tree that I gave up actually reading them after the first NINE!!! Keeping it to a handful of skills would have been just fine by me.

Mosaique Neko Waifus 4 was a lot of fun to play, simple as that. The PG version is perfectly acceptable for all ages, and the puzzles get harder incrementally at almost the perfect speed. If you accept this game for the basic puzzler that it’s designed to be, you won’t be disappointed. A really enjoyable way to spend a few hours.
