My Time At Portia (Android) – Review

“My Time at Portia’ is an action, role-play simulation game developed by Pathea Games and published by Pixmain. My Time at Portia was well received on PC and console, now after a year of hard work, Pathea has ported it for Android and iOS. The game contains a lot of fun aspects like gathering, crafting, and farming along with dungeon delving, creature fighting, and skill tree progression. There are over a hundred hours of content in this game, I am only 12 hours in and still feel like I am only just scratching the surface.

You arrive at the town of Portia and are given a letter from your father telling you that he is on the other side of the world but hopes you find your way in Portia. Given your father’s workshop, you begin your new life in this quaint little town in this post-apocalyptic world. Complete commissions to gain money, renown, and personal standings within the town and its people.

Unlock the secrets of the old world by exploring dungeons for relics of the past to create new equipment along with craftable items and structures. I like the industrial evolution in this game, you start with an axe and end with a chainsaw. Take part in the many in-game festivals and contests held by the town to gain rewards and materials.

As a mobile game, the controls are that of pretty much every other game on mobiles or tablets, left side of the screen is to move the character and the right side is to move the camera. All your abilities are on the right, like your roll, jump, interact, pick up/put down and attack. I am not a fan of mobile controls however they did make an effort to reduce the clutter of the screen by making the HUD semi-translucent. This did help and I did find myself not complaining about it as often as I do with other mobile games.

If there is one thing, I found interesting the most is how good this game looks but how little it strains or overheats my phone. The colors are vibrant, and the character model details and movements are nice and fluent; this makes me happy. Even the combat seemed to flow nicely, it shows how much effort was put into making it work the way it should. The NPCs are all so different and all have their personalities that show through the way they talk and how they look.

With fifty unique NPCs to befriend or find the one to romance and fall in love with, you can even get married and have children. The music in Portia is that of games like Stardew Valley which is very enjoyable. It is relaxing and helped me get lost in the game as if I were tranced, at one time I did not even realize that it was 3 am, not that I am complaining.

Right now, if you purchase the game, you will receive a limited time offer for players, who will receive a special mystery gift box from the game’s sequel, ‘My Time at Sandrock’, as well as items designed exclusively for mobiles such as a brand-new swimwear set, massage chair, and mushroom cabin.

As a bonus to all of these extras, right now for a limited time, the game is at a reduced price at AUD $9.99 on iOS and AUD $7.69 on Android. All of the newer phones and tablets should be able to play this game with ease however make sure you check the game’s specs to make sure it is compatible with your device.

Whether you play this on PC, console, or mobile I think you will enjoy this game and if you are a fan of RPG games on mobile you will enjoy this game and its hours of content. Some nice features included in-game tracking, for items, quests, or your marker you place on the map. Now with manual and autosaves, it makes it easier to jump in and out of the game on the fly. Give it a go if you can I am sure you can find several things to get you hooked on this game.
