Welcome to ‘Rogue Point’, a 4-player cooperative shooter where precision, planning and teamwork take centre stage. Developed by Crowbar Collective and published by Team17, this tactical rougelite challenges squads to work together to form an elite unit.

The aim of the game is to execute high-risk missions in a constantly evolving environment. You’ll have access to hundreds of loadout options and a dynamic structure that keeps every run feeling a little different from the last. MKAU Gaming had the chance to go hands-on with the demo, and it’s safe to say I was hooked on the blend of strategy, chaos, and intensity.

The demo features a single mission set in an office complex in its current build. Unfortunately, I could not participate in an online session, so I had to run solo. Running around and taking out the enemies seemed to be super easy, even with a pistol, but the main objective of collecting two laptops and some intel before needing to extract from the complex quickly became super repetitive. I would have liked to see more missions to draw the player into wanting to purchase the game, but it might be stacked on full release.

The controls took me a hot minute to get used to, especially with keyboard and mouse. The leaning felt a little clunky, to begin with, but it ironed out a little bit the more I started using it, and it was super abrupt, like there was no flow to the movement.

You had your standard shooting controls with your movement view, shooting with the mouse, and moving your character and selecting weapons with the keyboard. A little control guide or tutorial would not go astray in the full release for all the new players jumping in for some action.

I was a little upset with the sound in this title; it let it down on the immersion values the game could deliver if it wanted. The guns sounded super generic with none of the punch you would expect, like other titles with guns now.

I hated that the enemies sounded like a gorilla walking around on wooden floors; it was so loud and took whatever element of surprise and threw it out the window.

I often scored those sweet 360 headshots from someone in a completely different room away from me. I would love to see the audio get pumped up a little and worked on before full release.

The graphics are an interesting mix of cartoonish styling with a hint of realism, giving the game a unique visual feel that sets it apart from other games while still looking slightly unfinished. While it works in its own way, I’d love to see more detailed textures added in the full release to elevate the realism factor. With some visual polish and added depth to the environments and models, this could become a promising title that plays well and looks the part, too.

Rogue Point has all the right ingredients, but it might need some more cooking before becoming something truly special. It’s a tactical co-op shooter that blends chaos, strategy, and team-based action, and while the demo shows some promise, it definitely needs some polishing.
