If you’ve watched any of the trading card unboxing videos I’ve done, you’ll have heard my longing for a Star Wars series to be sent my way. Clearly, someone has been, and while it wasn’t the game I expected, I did receive a care package for the upcoming Star Wars Unlimited release, Legends of the Force.
Published by Fantasy Flight Games, Star Wars Unlimited initially released in March 2024, using unique artwork instead of stills from the films and series, and we were fortunate enough to receive a pre-built Spotlight Deck, three 16-card booster packs, and deck protection: a pack of Premium Art Sleeves and a Soft Crate.
The Spotlight Deck we received features a pre-built 50-card deck focusing on Darth Maul, and comes with everything you need to start your journey into the Star Wars Unlimited Trading Card Game.

Alongside Darth Maul, there’s a host of carefully selected cards designed to synchronise with each other to create a balanced deck, ready for either immediate play or as something to build upon, as well as double-sided tokens, printed on thick card to keep track of buffs and debuffs during a game. The only downside I can immediately see is that rules for gameplay aren’t included in these packs – you’ll need to obtain these online.
It also included a booster pack, identical to those you can purchase separately, which contains 16 randomised cards. These will typically contain a leader, as well as a base/token card, 9 cards of the common rarity, 3 uncommon cards, a rare or legendary card, and one foil card, though they do stipulate that no specific rarity is guaranteed. Although random, these are a great way to build on a pre-built deck, potentially giving you some of the more powerful cards in the series, and the only way you’ll have a chance at obtaining some of the more valuable cards if you’re a collector.
The Soft Crate is a thin, card-like plastic box designed to keep your deck safe during transit. It will hold a full deck, even if the cards are placed in protective sleeves, as well as having a smaller box inside designed to keep your tokens in one place, while the Premium Art sleeves are soft plastic protection for individual cards.

Out of the 62 sleeves included, 60 of them feature artwork from the cards on the back, with our pack once again featuring Darth Maul, and two clear sleeves, either for protecting double-sided cards or using them to protect cards not appearing in your deck.
The cards themselves feature beautiful artwork inspired by characters, locations, and lore from the Star Wars universe. What I think I like most about them, however, is that they use unique art that has been created specifically for the Star Wars Unlimited trading card game. They’re not just using imagery from the film or series, but you can still clearly tell who, what, and where the card represents.
I’m really excited to have finally been exposed to Star Wars Unlimited, but I am a little concerned that this could turn into a new addiction. Available as of July 11th, 2025, if you’re keen to get your hands on any of the new series, head on down to your local gaming store to pick some up!

The Good
