As Dusk Falls (PS5 Exclusive Features) – Preview

MKAU Gaming was invited to a virtual media event for the upcoming release of ‘As Dusk Falls’ on the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation 5, set to release on March 7th. Developed by London-based development studio, INTERIOR/NIGHT, this media event walked us through some cool new features coming to this story-rich, interactive drama.

Originally released to PC and Xbox consoles on the 19th of July, 2022, MKAU Gaming was lucky enough to be invited to review it. You can read that (HERE). As Dusk Falls is an interactive drama that explores the entangled lives of two families across the span of thirty years, broken down into six chapters.

It starts in Arizona, 1998, with a robbery gone wrong in a small town, and your decisions make huge impacts on your characters, potentially compromising their lives. One of the big things the developers are pushing for with this release is the multiplayer aspect, wanting you to have up to eight players, either locally or online, and given most people won’t have eight controllers sitting around, the “As Dusk Falls: Companion App” will let players user their mobile devices, an awesome new addition being tested for release with the PlayStation 5 version.

Other new features coming out with the Playstation release include the likes of Haptic Feedback, adding that extra little bit of immersion to the game by enabling you to feel the consequences of your decisions.

The As Dusk Falls: Companion App has been a huge testing phase for the Touch Pad Controls, also coming to the PlayStation release, meaning you’ll be able to play the game with one finger if you want, sliding it over the touchpad controls to make those in-game decisions.

I think the biggest new feature coming with this release is the “Audio Description.” The developers wanted to give more people a chance to play, so this feature will add text-to-speech, as well as the ability to adjust the game speed if you need it a little slower, helping to accommodate gamers with poor vision.

There is a pretty cool-looking Premium Physical Edition coming for the PlayStation 5 release, containing a physical copy of the game, a cool-looking cinematic poster, and Sheriff Dante’s Black Book. The developers have also confirmed this will be full of useful hints, and if the players can solve the riddles and puzzles, these can answer in-game questions. We’re expecting to see this drop in Spring 2024.

It’s always refreshing to see developers not just re-releasing a game to another console or upgrading the graphics, but adding new features to accommodate more people, and I’m excited to see all the Sony lovers get a hold of this title.
